The Heritage Center Archives are located at 1812 Chapel Court, Northbrook, Illinois.

The offices and archives are open to the public every Thursday from 10an to 2pm, except on national holidays.  We are also open by appointment by calling (847) 498-3404.  Please leave a message.

The archives building was once home to the Hope-Union Church, and then the Church of Christ Scientist until 2017.  When the congregation became to small to support the building, the building was donated to the Northbrook Historical Society.

The building was lifted up and rotated early in its life to turn the entrance toward Chapel Court.  Years later, a fire damaged parts of the building, and over its history, an addition was added which dramatically increased its size.

On Thursdays, volunteers answer research requests, and work to digitize our collections to fulfill one of our mottos: preserve the past to serve the future.  Each week, the potential is there to discover something new about Chicagoland, Northfield Township, Shermerville, Northbrook and our community’s history!
